Don’t be ashamed . Admit it… you’re not exactly sure. I had no idea. So…. let’s start with Oxford Dictionary’s definition: “bu·reau·crat / ˈbyo͝orəˌkrat / noun: bureaucrat; plural noun: bureaucrats An official in a government department, in particular one perceived as being concerned with procedural correctness at the expense of people’s need.”
Read it. Mull it over. Let the words sink in and we’ll come back to that definition later. However, I really pray that definition impacted {aka, pissed you off} you as much as it did me. (If not, read it again.)
In 2020, during the 6 weeks of “getting ahead of the covid virus” lockdowns, and looking at the election that was coming in November, I was curious about and attended Mark Meckler’s Convention of States local meetings to learn more about what I could do as ONE citizen during what I perceived as the coming destruction of America as I had known it. I spoke with volunteer team leaders who carefully explained as much as possible what “Convention of States” was about, and they did a good job. At first, it sounded ominous. However, the more I learned I understood that in our Constitution, the authors / leaders / forefathers had enough insight, and guided I believe by God, into the human condition to enable a fully-citizen-backed group to be responsible enough to recognize when our government (elected officials… Congress, Senate, President, Justice Department, Legislative department, etc.) got so out of control with their perceived power WE THE PEOPLE needed a rip cord or a safety net. That “net” was an amendment to Article V in our Constitution that read: “one of two methods authorized by Article Five of the United States Constitution whereby amendments to the United States Constitution may be proposed: two thirds of the State legislatures (that is, 34 of the 50) may call a convention to propose amendments, which become law only after ratification by three-fourths of the states (38 of the 50).”
What does that mean? That’s what I asked. WE THE PEOPLE can petition our state’s government to rally with 33 other states and propose changes to the way our OUT OF CONTROL government is operating (youtube link below). Is it that simple? In truth, yes. In practice, not so much. These changes, if brought by a Convention of States – 34 states legislative bodies – propelled by WE THE PEOPLE, do actually have THE RIGHT in our Constitution to affect change. Has it ever happened? Sadly, no.
During my many meetings and conversations with other very unhappy-like-me Americans, the word “BUREAUCRATS” was used a TON as being a huge problem IN our government. During one meeting, I couldn’t stand it, and figured I had nothing to lose, so I asked the question: Precisely what is a BUREAUCRAT, and why are they so detrimental to our government? Yes, like you I’ve heard the word BUREAUCRAT forever, but frankly had no idea what it was. Ironically, it was a lady from Great Britain who spelled it out so I could understand: bureaucrats are simply government employees. How in the world can simple government employees be such a big problem – you and I ask?
Our government loves to conflate terms to confuse AND control the general population. For instance, take the two words equality and equity. Sound the same, right? Yes. BUT, are they? NOPE!!! Equality is what 98% of the American population absolutely agrees with – an equal playing field for everyone. PERIOD! No exceptions. Good, right? Yes! We ALL want an equal opportunity to succeed.
So, what is EQUITY? Equity is even outcomes – no matter the consequence. Still not sure what it is??
Example: j doe#1 and j doe#2, same age, are applying for a pilot position with XYZ Airline. #1 scored 98 on the entrance exam and completed the pilot’s Boeing 777 simulation with zero infractions. #2 scored 85 on the entrance exam, completed the same Boeing 777 simulation after 4 attempts and 3 infractions. #1’s race is of a higher majority than #2. Equity would require the company hire #2 simply to have a higher racial statistic in their reported employment numbers. Now – answer me this: which pilot would YOU rather have flying YOUR Boeing 777 when YOU go on vacation with YOUR spouse and 3 children? That’s equity as opposed to equality. Do the meanings of the two words make a difference to you now that you see the chasm? Do you want your pilot, doctor, professor hired because they were a fantastic statistic for their company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating with BlackRock so that the investors are fat and happy, OR is it because they can land a plane in one piece, successfully treat cancer, or that they are the best teacher in that subject (or field) for which you have chosen to concentrate your life and education? You instinctively KNOW that answer.
Let’s look back at Oxford’s definition of a Bureaucrat: “an official in a government department, in particular one perceived as being concerned with procedural correctness at the expense of people’s need.” Please, focus on the ladder part of that definition: “ONE PERCEIVED AS BEING CONCERNED WITH PROCEDURAL CORRECTNESS AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLE’S NEED.”
“AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLE’S NEEDS”… THAT is the heart of the WHOLE problem! When our government does ANYTHING “at the expense” – it’s time for WE THE PEOPLE to get pissed.
Every time a new administration is elected new Cabinet positions are appointed – Secretary of State, Defense, Education, Transportation, etc., “you know the thing”… the “Pete Buttigieg” and “Admiral Levine” dudes. Once enshrined in their new Secretary of “fill-in-the-blank,” THEY hire their underlings to ENACT what THEY believe ole joe wants to happen during his reign. So, the Buttigieges an Levines hire their staff to comply with THEIR VISION of what THEY think old joe wants them to do TO us – remember “AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLE’S NEED.” . When ole joe’s reign is over, Pete and Mr. Levine will no longer have their jobs, HOWEVER. the BUREACRATS they hired **are still there**.
At present, there are over TWO million bureaucrats working for our United States government. That’s 2,000,000+ leftover employees of the DaddyBush, Clinton, George Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations (though, I’m pretty sure there aren’t very many Trump leftovers). THOSE are the individuals who are rising in rank and authority, collecting forever pensions and lifetime insurance off of you and me, but MOST IMPORTANTLY – advising their underlings AND newcomers precisely what to do and how to operate our government. AND with each administration, the bureaucrat numbers are GROWING! Imagine – IF YOU WILL – the effect of the leftover bureaucrats from ole joe’s administration for UNTOLD years to come.
Most of us have forgotten 9th grade Civics class (IF you had Civics), 100 years ago, and is NEVER iterated by MSMedia (which is growing)…. WE THE PEOPLE ARE the government! If you don’t believe me, just look at your last pay stub.
